Fusions - every Wednesday - special programming with shows and artists that experience the dialogue between different genres like Jazz Rock, Rock, Electronic, Funk, Folk and NU Jazz. In this edition, we invited the bass player, composer and arranger Thiago Espirito Santo to present their own compositions, as well as themes from groups such as Weather Report and other musicians who also contributed to the fusion's development.
Through his unique style and technique, Thiago Espirito Santo is recognized as one of the most versatile and original double bass players in the world, drawing his way through the visceral pathways of deep dedication to the craft. The musical cradle and the great curiosity for the comprehensiveness of this universe, allied to the practice of diverse instruments and the exercise of composition, fall into sensitive creations, which are already born arranged.
In a more mature phase of his career that will complete 24 years in 2017, Thiago unites in his compositions all his influences, from samba to jazz, from bolero to forró, and presents a sonority of diverse accents allied to a careful execution and the attention to the details. They add to Thiago's double bass, the elegance of Bruno Cardozo on the piano and Cuca Teixeira's levadas on drums.
Thiago Espirito Santo performs intense performance in each of the musical pillars, with shows, productions, lectures and workshops. In addition to solo career and band formations, with more than a dozen CD's released. As a producer, he was nominated for the Latin Grammy in 2012 for the album "Forró Chorado" by Oswaldinho do Acordeon. As a teacher, in addition to teaching classes and workshops throughout the country, he developed the contrabass method applied today in 360 poles of the Guri Project.
His extensive resume includes a series of shows and recordings all over Brazil and abroad (United States, Argentina, Ecuador, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Holland, Italy, France, Mozambique, Japan and Russia), along with partners like Dominguinhos , Hermeto Pascoal, Toninho Horta, Maria Bethânia, Hamilton de Holanda, Yamandú Costa, Wilson Simonal, Jair Rodrigues, George Benson, Gregoire Maret, Alessio Menconi, Dom Moio, Todd Johnson, Kenwood Dennard, among many others.
